Preserving My Sanity

The Importance of Being an Ally & Advocate

Why Being an Ally and Advocate is Important to Me

There are some things that feel less like a marketing message and more like a reflection of who you are.

For me, this is one of them.

I’m a proud ally and advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. And while that shows up in my business in small ways throughout the year, it becomes especially visible each June.

Creating my Pride collection has become one of my favorite traditions. Each soap is designed with intention, with its own colors, meaning, and story behind it.

It’s creative, it’s meaningful, and it’s something I genuinely look forward to every year.

Why This Matters to Me

For me, being an ally isn’t about saying the perfect thing or having all the right words.

It’s about showing up.

It’s about creating spaces—both in my business and in my everyday life—where people feel seen, respected, and welcome.

Sometimes that looks like having conversations.
Sometimes it looks like supporting organizations doing important work.
And sometimes it looks like something as simple as creating products that reflect inclusion and care.

None of it has to be complicated to matter.

Small Actions Still Matter

It’s easy to think that making a difference requires something big.

But often, it’s the smaller, consistent actions that add up over time.

Choosing to be inclusive.
Choosing to be supportive.
Choosing to create something that reflects those values.

Those choices matter.

And they create a ripple effect—whether we see it immediately or not.

Creating With Intention

When I design my Pride collection each year, it’s not just about making something colorful or seasonal.

It’s about creating something with meaning.

Each design reflects a message—of love, strength, resilience, or visibility.

And every time someone chooses one of those products, it becomes a small way to support something bigger.

That connection is something I don’t take lightly.

Supporting Beyond the Product

Each year, I also commit to giving back.

For every bar of soap sold during Pride Month, I donate a portion to an organization dedicated to supporting and saving young LGBTQ+ lives.

There are many incredible organizations doing this work, and I’m grateful to be able to contribute in a small way through my business.

It’s not about doing everything.

It’s about doing something.

A Day That Means So Much

Attending our local Pride Fest has become one of my favorite days of the year.

There’s something incredibly powerful about being surrounded by a community that shows up fully as themselves—and supports one another in doing the same.

It’s joyful.
It’s meaningful.
And it’s a reminder of why this matters.

That feeling is something I carry with me long after the day is over.

It Doesn’t Have to Be Perfect

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that being an ally doesn’t require perfection.

You don’t have to have all the answers.
You don’t have to say everything exactly right.

What matters is your intention—and your willingness to show up, to listen, and to continue learning.

It’s an ongoing process, just like everything else.

Why I Share This

This isn’t something I share because I feel like I have to.

I share it because it’s part of who I am—and part of what I want my business to reflect.

Preserving My Sanity isn’t just about soap or natural living.

It’s about creating something that feels thoughtful, intentional, and inclusive.

And that includes making space for people to feel welcome and supported.
