Tipping the Tide Soap

Handmade in small batches in my Minnesota kitchen, this Tipping the Tide ssoap contains: Olive Oil, Locally Sourced Minnesota Goat’s Milk, Unrefined Organic Coconut Oil, RSPO Certified Sustainable Palm Oil, Food-Grade Sodium Hydroxide, Castor Oil, Fragrance Oil (Paraben & Phthalate Free), Sunflower Oil, Mica, Pumice Powder, Mixed Soap Confetti that may also contain Avocado Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Essential Oil, Oxide, Activated Charcoal, Turmeric, Rhubarb Root Powder, Clay, Walnut Shell Powder, Poppy Seeds, Sea Salt, Coconut Husk Powder, Colloidal Oatmeal.)

The aqua base of this soap represents the ocean, and it’s mixed with miscellaneous confetti pieces of soap and pumice powder. This ocean-inspired gently exfoliating soap is scented with a fragrance blend of ocean mist, sea grass, agave nectar, and coconut milk.

Soap bars are 1″ thick and approximately 4.25 ounces each.

The Story:

In honor of Earth Day, I created this bar to reflect both the beauty of the ocean — and the reality of what’s in it.

The dark turquoise base represents saltwater, while the confetti pieces represent the plastic and debris found in our oceans. At the current rate, it’s estimated that by 2050, there could be more plastic in the ocean than fish (by weight), according to the World Economic Forum.

The confetti is made from unused odds and ends from my regular batches of goat milk soap. I save those pieces over time, and when the container is full, I turn them into something new. I also added a bit of pumice powder, so this bar has a gentle exfoliation and a clean, salty beach scent.

This bar is a small reflection of two ideas — using what we can to reduce waste, and recognizing that small actions toward big issues can add up over time.
